CSA does not stand for Cat Superiority Appreciation

CSA actually stands for “Community Supported Agriculture”.

Essentially, you’ll get a box every week full of seasonal fruits n’ veggies grown from local farms.
Sure, this sounds good n’ all (maybe a little “hippie-ish”), but here is why it really IS worth it:

  • You get a huge amount of fresh produce for a good price
  • You won’t have to stand in the produce section of the grocery store and be overwhelmed and think ‘what to get????’
  • You will be given a wide selection of possibly stuff you’ve never encountered, so you’ll be forced to try new things

Seriously. Every week I have to Google recipes for some of the wacky stuff that shows up in my CSA box. In fact there are some vegetables in my fridge right now that are a mystery to me. But I’ll eat those suckers, because I PAID for them.

Heck, I just saw a GROUPON for a CSA box service, it’s getting that common. Go here to look up a CSA service near you (click on CSA and enter in your zip code).

Try it for two weeks. Start with the smallest box they offer and DO NOT sign up for one where you pick and choose your veggies – that is a cop out and that option tends to cost more.

It’s tough to switch away from familiar food friends but how are you going to make NEW food friends without trying? This way, you can be introduced to a lot of new foods and hopefully make some new friends…..and then eat them.
