Dining Out in Disneyland – Low Carb Style!

Today I went to the ‘Happiest Place on Earth’ which might as well be one of the most tempting places on earth. Everywhere I went, people were happily snacking on candy, Dole Whip drinks, Mickey Mouse doughy pretzels, delicious looking ice cream cones, and bread bread bread.

For breakfast, my partner (who is not low carb but is a sweetie) made me bacon, eggs and avocado. So started out the day right. Then I splurged for a McDonald’s iced coffee with sugar free vanilla syrup (too bad they don’t use Torani’s SF vanilla syrup which has almost no carbs, I use this in my coffee daily). Sadly, their sugar free syrup DOES have carbs in it, so be warned! I biked 40 miles the day before, and naively thought I could get some biking in today*, so I decided to treat myself.

For lunch, we ate at the French Market Restaurant. I got the quarter chicken and a double helping of veggies. Sadly, only ONE out of three veggies were low carb, as the medley was green beans, baby carrots and corn. The chicken was OK, but I’m not a fan of chicken to begin with.

My aforementioned partner got a delicious looking bread bowl, which only increased cravings. I touched his bread, squeezed it with my fingers, felt it’s moist bread-ness, and then proceeded to pick out and eat just the green beans from my veggies while ignoring the beckoning call of the glutenous mass in front of me.

By the time we were heading out of the park, I was cranky and ready to snatch ice cream out of a child’s hands. Therefore, we stopped by a cart and got one of the infamous TURKEY LEGS!!!

Grrr Grrr primal munch munch!!

You can feed at least three people off one of these legs. I don’t even want to know what the turkey looked like that produced these juicy meat-sticks.

Needless to say, the moment I got home some Lindt 90% Dark Chocolate was immediately consumed to sate the cravings.

Normally I don’t have such a tough time eating in public but apparently the “Magic Kingdom” is full of temptation!

This.

This.

*There is still plenty of time for me to actually work out and burn off some of the glucose. Willpower, where are thee??
