I love Farmer’s Markets. You never know what you are going to find. Here is a photographic journey through the Westlake Village, California, Farmer’s Market.
SQUEE! LOOK HOW CUTE THESE BABY PATTYPAN SQUASHIES ARE!!! Beyond cute. I’d serve these whole just to have the cuteness effect in full force. Here is a recipe made with larger pattypan squashes.
Same booth had these runty, yet cute, carrots. They ranged from regular to runty, but soo cute and such cool colors.
On the other end of the spectrum, this was the biggest cauliflower I’ve ever seen. They wanted just $3 for it. For reference, I have a super long face, so yeah. MONSTER CAULIFLOWER! Click here to see all recipes with cauliflower.
Opo squash aka Calabash, which were huge! See next pic for size reference.
Here is an opo squash being used as a weapon. For reference, my boyfriend also has a long face, so this is a serious squash! I’ve never tried one – it’s low in carbs so next time I’ll pick one up and give it a whirl.
Look at the cool spots on this yellow squash! I believe it is dreaming of becoming a zucchini one day.
There was a booth to buy seedlings and they had an amazing array of veggies to choose from. Look how gorgeous these beets are! I never knew beets like this existed. Click here to see all my recipes using beets.
Also cool to find out what type of beans I saw at the New England farm stand and from a prior farmer’s market visit. Must.Try. So.Pretty. And how cool is the name ‘Dragon’s Tongue Bush Beans’??
This baby squash never quite left the nest!
They didn’t have any of these for sale at the Farmer’s Market. I wonder why? Perhaps I should try to sell mine there next week.
